South London duo New General Catalogue has recently released a new single “Nightmare” Landr.
“Nightmare” is prominently based around an ambient, drum-driven electronic R&B arrangement filled with sparse synths and background vocals that give character to the overall track.
It is the lead single from the upcoming EP Short Stories – set to be released this summer.
About the new single “Nightmare”, NGC shares “‘Nightmare” is a song we carved out amid the pandemic. It is the first song we completed and led the way for the energy that followed to make the other songs on the EP. The pandemic was a literal Nightmare for a lot of people and music was thus both our therapy and cure. There is a dark but intrinsically beautiful feeling in “Nightmare” that we hope people can associate with. A lot of losses like the loss of close ones and relationships were felt in the pandemic hence the lyric ‘when the lights don’t shine bright’ echoes throughout the song. The themes of darkness and pain are echoed a lot in the upcoming visual for the song by filmmaker Polocho of Say GoodNight Films. It is part of a 3 part music video.”
“Nightmare” is out on all streaming platforms.
